I am so blessed to be a daughter to my mom. She is such a fantastic person. At 70, she is still going strong. She keeps an immaculate home, bakes the most wonderful goodies, and still mows the yard herself. I am also blessed to be a mom to my three lovely adult children. I am also blessed to be a grandmother. When I count my blessings, I can't believe how lucky I am! I wish all of you a happy mother's day!

Happy Easter

Happy Easter and happy spring! The sun is actually shining a bit today, though it's cold. I love this time of year and wish it would last longer, but spring in Oregon is fleeting. May all the joys of this glorious season be yours.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!
Irish Eyes
by Chaucey Olcott and George Graff, Jr.
When Irish eyes are smiling,
Tis like a morn in spring.
With a lilt of Irish laughter
You can hear the angels sing
When Irish hearts are happy
All the world is bright and gay
When Irish eyes are smiling
Sure, they steal your heart away.

Nothing New to Report

I have been looking for work for months and have had no luck at all. I have sent in many resumes and joined a temp agency. I have had only one interview and that didn't pan out. I am getting so discouraged! Also, I gained three pounds! If anybody knows somebody who is hiring in the Portland, Oregon metro area, let me know please! As long as they don't mind somebody with slightly chubby thighs lol.

Happy Groundhog Day

Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow, which means 6 more weeks of winter! This is supposed to be bad news, but to me it means I still have 6 weeks to lose a few pounds before warmer weather sets in and it's time to bare more skin.

Happy New Years

In the New Year,
we wish you the best year you’ve ever had,
and that each New Year
will be better than the last.
May you realize your fondest dreams
and take time to recognize and enjoy
each and every blessing.
Happy New Year,
And many more!

Merry Christmas!

When eggnog's generously filling
Each and every Christmas mug
And siblings tour miles and miles
To greet you with a hug
There's scarce else I'll be wishing
Than this simple little prayer
Of peace and calm and blessings much
On Christmas Day this year.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone has a nice meal and somebody to share it with! I have much to be thankful for.I plan on making the meal at my house this year for a change. My little granddaughter told me today that the pilgrims and Indians shared a feast of cheese and dried beans:)I plan on serving a bit more than that.

Great American Smokeout

Today is the day in which smokers are encouraged to quit. This is the 36th annual smokeout. I quit smoking 2 years, 7 months ago and I've never regretted it. Now if I could just encourage my mom, sisters, and sons to quit! The American Cancer Society has some excellent tips on quitting smoking-http://www.cancer.org/Healthy/StayAwayfromTobacco/GreatAmericanSmokeout/

Veteran's Day

On Veterans Day we honor all,
Who answered to a service call.
Soldiers young, and soldiers old,
Fought for freedom, brave and bold.
Some have lived, while others died,
And all of them deserve our pride.
We’re proud of all the soldiers who,
Kept thinking of red, white and blue.
They fought for us and all our rights,
They fought through many days and nights.
And though we may not know each name,
We thank ALL veterans just the same.

Fall Back

It's time to set your clocks back again. For some reason this always confuses me. It's also a good idea to replace the battery in your smoke alarm and stock up on cold medicine.

It's That Time of Year

We had a bad scare this week with my mom being hospitalized. She got sick and then couldn't breathe. She has some sort of bronchitis that she can't seem to shake. She is a little better now and is home, but on oxygen. She gets out of breath just standing. I stayed a week with her to help, but now I'm sick! I feel bad because I can't help her, but it feels good to be home.
